What It Has: For any app that claims to deliver "...a high quality console-style FPS experience on iPhone or iPod touch," the expectations are high. However, Archetype supplies exactly what it claims to; on every level. On my first boot of the game, I was blown away by the sheer quality of the graphics. Trust me, although the retina display on the new iPhone 4 is a huge plus, that's not the reason. Archetype's graphics are phenomenal, and without a doubt some of the best that I've seen on any iPhone and iPod Touch game. Besides solid gameplay and feature-packed levels, another factor I really enjoy about this app is that it doesn't try to do what most other FPS apps nowadays do. Once you pay the $2.99 to download the app; that's all you'll ever pay. There's never any extra downloads for more map packs or content; everything is included. 

What It's Missing: Although it may seem surprising, the only potential downfall I could find for some users is a minor one. When playing, racking up as many kills as possible will earn you rewards such as medals and experience, but not much else. There's no special content for playing often, like special weapons or outfits; but for a new game with as many perks as Archetype, this is barely a minor complaint. Overall, if you're on the market for a great First Person Shooter with wonderful graphics and challenging but not impossible gameplay, this is the app for you.
